Universities that accept the SAT

The SAT isn't only for the US. A number of English-taught bachelor's programmes in Europe, some UK universities and Turkish foundation universities all consider SAT scores. Below is what role the SAT plays, country by country.

Quick answer: where is the SAT accepted?

The SAT's primary market is the US, where virtually every university considers it. In Europe the SAT is not a standalone entrance exam but a document that strengthens an international application: some English-taught programmes in the Netherlands, Italy, Belgium and Spain accept it, Germany treats it as complementary, and in the UK it does not replace A-Levels or the IB. In Türkiye many foundation universities accept SAT scores under their international quota.

What the SAT does in each country

CountryRole of the SAT
United StatesThe SAT's home ground. Most universities are test-optional, but for an international applicant a strong score still carries weight in both admission and scholarship files.
NetherlandsEnglish-taught bachelor's programmes are common. The SAT is usually not required, but it's accepted as supporting evidence where a diploma's equivalence is in question.
ItalyIn some English-taught programmes the SAT can substitute for the entrance exam, particularly in economics and engineering.
BelgiumEnglish-taught bachelor options are limited but exist; the SAT is typically read as part of the international application file.
SpainPrivate universities' English-taught programmes may accept the SAT; public universities generally run their own entrance system (EvAU).
GermanyThe SAT alone isn't sufficient; it's usually read alongside Studienkolleg or diploma equivalence as a complementary document.
United KingdomA-Level / IB is the main route. Some universities ask for the SAT as additional evidence in international applications; it doesn't replace A-Levels.
TürkiyeMany foundation universities accept SAT scores from international and overseas-schooled applicants; quotas and thresholds vary by institution.

This page deliberately avoids per-university score thresholds. Requirements change every cycle and differ by programme; the only binding source is the university's own admissions page. Once you have a target school, we can talk through what score is realistic.
