SAT test dates and score release calendar
College Board's international SAT calendar. Each sitting shows when scores are released and how many weeks are left — the two numbers a study plan is built on.
Quick answer: when are SAT scores released?
College Board publishes a score release date for every sitting, and your scores appear in your College Board account that day. College Board says most weekend scores come out 2–4 weeks after test day. Sending scores to universities is a separate step and takes extra time — worth planning for if your sitting is close to an application deadline.

Are SAT dates the same outside the US?
Yes. College Board uses one SAT calendar for U.S. and international test takers. For registration deadlines and test-centre availability, check College Board's own page.
Are the latest SAT scores out, and how long do they take?
The latest released scores are from the 3 October 2026 sitting, out on 16 October 2026. Next: the 7 November 2026 sitting, on 20 November 2026. College Board publishes each sitting's release date in advance; for the fall 2026 and spring 2027 sittings most fall on the Friday 13 days after the test. College Board's score release dates page gives the day only.
How long is the SAT, and when does it finish?
The Digital SAT takes 2 hours 14 minutes: 64 minutes for Reading and Writing and 70 minutes for Math, with a 10-minute break between the two sections. Which date should you choose?
Work back from your application calendar: your scores must be out before your first university deadline (see the release dates above), with time left for a second sitting if you need one. Deadlines and score policies differ from one university to the next, so check each university's own page.
How to register for the SAT
- Create or sign in to your College Board account. You register yourself, not through a parent or counsellor; enter your name exactly as it appears on the ID you will bring, because the two must match.
- Choose your test date and test centre. Seat availability shows during registration, so consider more than one centre.
- Upload a photo that meets the requirements and pay the test fee; the current fee is shown when you register.
- One to five days before the test, open Bluebook on your testing device, sign in, complete exam setup, and print your admission ticket or email it to yourself.
On test day you need an original, valid photo ID; if you travel to another country to test, College Board requires a valid passport. See College Board's ID requirements.
Which sitting should you prepare for?
Starting from scratch, a 16-week programme is realistic; if you're already near your target band, 8-12 weeks may be enough. Look at the weeks remaining above, then measure your current level — the plan comes from those two numbers.
